Holiday Cheer

Few weeks ago while I was busy cooking dinner I heard my son sang the Jingle Bell song. Even though the words weren’t clear, I knew he was singing a Christmas song. But how? We haven’t played a Christmas song in our house. Little did I know that he learned the song from an application in his ipod. Oh kids these days!

I can’t believe that it’s only few weeks before Christmas and with all the holiday decorations everywhere, it sure does feel like Christmas already. Last weekend, the kids and me went to a nearby mall together with J. We decided to stroll around the area while waiting for J’s meeting. But since the meeting was dinnertime and we were all hungry, I decided to have dinner first at the food court from their favorite fast food.

I have been going back and forth at our nearby grocery with only the kids and me and so they knew already where we are heading. There is something about grocery stores that they are so giddy about, maybe because they see a lot of food? I guess so! Anyway, the nearby food court is just adjacent to the grocery store and so off we go. They were surprisingly behaved and followed my instructions very well. We ordered the usual meal from McDonald’s, which is the Burger Meal and Sundae. When we were settled an untoward incident happened.

After our dinner, we headed to a nearby hotel to meet J. While en route to the hotel, we saw Santa and his friends near the exit of the mall. Little D told the Santa, “where surprise?” Oh boy, that’s what you get you load your kids with too much information.

When we were inside the hotel, numerous Christmas trees with different sizes greeted us. Now I feel so guilty for not having a tree yet. Then again, little D told the man wearing costume, “where surprise?” Now that makes two surprises in a day. Boboy, you better have a good surprise for the kiddo then.

How about you? Did you put up decorations already?
