Today : Sharing

When we were kids, my mom would usually buy each of us toy so she can be spared from the fight between us siblings. It was good because I was spared from danger of broken toys caused by my younger siblings.

I thought of doing the same to my kids. I would buy D and A separate toys so there will be no fighting-over-a-single-toy. I think there were times that we buy them different toys but they would end up still fighting because D wants A’s toys and the other way around. But then, it was time to teach them the value of sharing. Whenever I decide to buy them something, I would only buy one and talk to both of them and tell them about sharing. At first there will be crying mode and fight in between but later on, I would find them sharing and playing with each other without fighting.

Just this morning I found them sharing a pad of stickers and each of them are sticking it one by one on each other's arms without crying and fighting. I also constantly remind them to share food and toys.

How about you? How do you teach your kids the value of sharing?
