A Spontaneous Weekend

Took a shower for five minutes together with the kids and got dressed for another three minutes. You might wonder how I looked like with the three minutes? Well, I spared the make up thing so I can get things done in a short time. It was by far the quickest preparation I have ever done for the past three years. At least my kids can cooperate well when they are told that they will go out for a walk. It makes them ecstatic. In that way, getting dressed won’t be a struggle. But I forgot to say all of it was spur-of-the-moment.

My cousin and I were chatting over an online game when boredom strikes our weekend and thought of actually having a serious exercise (walkathon) to make our muscles do the K-Na pump. But it was unexpected when coincidentally Boboy was planning to go out on a meeting near the area and asked him if he can drop us near the campus. What I love from having unprepared events is the adrenalin it gives. It makes you feel revitalized from a long break.

But plans change while en route the meeting area and the kids took a catnap. Instead, we stayed inside the car and waited until he finished his meeting and went straight to UP campus. Oh, I forgot we went straight to Mang Larry’s barbecue station. So it was literally fuelling up before the actual walkathon. I ordered humungous amount of barbecue because my instinct was threatened by the long queue. While, I was waiting for our orders, the kids had their first dirty ice cream and they enjoyed every bit of it.

After we had our humungous dose of unhealthy food, we walked our way to the carshow and had one round of walkathon (plus intermittent carrying and walking with the kids) inside the campus and lost more or less 100 calories from it. Since the little girl was already complaining of exhaustion and tired feet, we decided to get going and my not-so-craving cousin wanted to pig out some more and spent thirty minutes looking for an unnamed coffee shop in Maginhawa street only to find out it was already closed. Before finally deciding where to have our coffee, we passed by a book thrift store and checked out some of their items. The kids were happy and were able to take home books that they like and I was able to score two books too! I will tell about it in a different post.

We then decided to settle with the last coffee shop that looks enticing and decent from the outside. I ordered tuna and chicken sandwich for the kids but unfortunately they wanted our coffee drinks too! Dodo was pointing to my hot cappuccino and A was trying to make her puppy dog eyes to lure Boboy to take a sip from his cold cappuccino drink. It wasn’t just a sip but a big gulp that made her hyped on our way home. She was humming few notes with her indiscernible words and was really rowdy inside the car.

It was yet a spontaneous but meaningful weekend as we discover the kids’ interests despite the struggle of being unruly.
