A Modern Supermom

“How do you do it?” People would drop me this question all the time knowing that I am the only one who takes care of my three children. But really, how do I survive the day with a sane mind? It’s hard, I must say, but reasons behind it is what makes me think of braving the unknown.

It has been four years since my last reputable nanny left and the one that replaced her just gave me nightmare as well as my children. After that, I have decided to never get another one for the sake of my kids. I know for most you might think that probably I have lost my mind for doing everything and that I have lost my freedom for doing so. I haven’t and never will I regret a single decision I have made. Eventhough my kids are a handful, I am happy and contented to see them everyday under my care. I may become a soft mommy in the morning and a dragon mom come night time, still, I know that I am the one who tucked them to sleep not some stranger who pretends to like my children.

Admittedly, there are moments wherein I envy others who have their freedom and can do whatever they see fit but I will never exchange what I hone my children for. Through the years, they have taught me to become a better mom and everyday is always a room for improvement. Being nannyless teaches them to be involved in the house without asking or begging them to do the household chores. They also follow a certain routine everyday and each one of them knows already knows my house rules.

But honestly, if not for technology, I won’t be able to survive life on a daily basis. I must admit that I have depended on it so much for our survival, that I cannot live without it at any given circumstance. After all, technology should make life easy for us right?

These are the following must haves for every nannyless mommy inside the household.

Rice Cooker. This kitchen wonder does not only cook rice but you can use it for several meals for the family.

Vacuum. I am the conventional broom type of girl who doesn’t believe much on the power of this one. But there was a time when everything was chaos and the house was extremely dusty that the need for me to clean up in a jiffy arises, this was a huge help! I was able to make the house dust free in 30 minutes!

Automatic Washing Machine. I always say this in every blogpost I have that I am very particular with our clothes. I don’t like hiring a person who will do our laundry let alone bring our dirty clothes to the laundromat. This is a savior plus it cleans loads of clothes in a flash!

Nanny Camera. We live in a two-story apartment and it was only lately that I have decided to finally have our own when the youngest was born. My two toddlers play very rough that they tend to forget their younger brother is still a baby. I have to keep an eye on them even if I am preparing our meals in the kitchen. Yes, I am a helicopter parent sometimes and I am very much thankful for technology.

Ipad/Tablet. I am a very open minded mom when it comes to electronic pacifiers. I let them play and limit it at the same time. When need arise that I have to keep silence inside the house, I let them tinker the ipad/tablet. I am quite surprised how disciplined my eldest is. But with my little girl, it is still in the process.

So that is how I survive my everyday life being a mom and a wife. Now it is up to you to figure out how I put on my cape and start and end the day with sane and composed mind.

I know everyone of us conceals themselves in aprons and make ups being a supermom also. I'd like to hear your story. What is one thing in the house you cannot live without? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
