Babywearing and Its Benefits

Image
"Don't carry them too much because they will get used to it." When I had my first born, I was led to believe that babies aren't supposed to be cuddled and carried all the time and that they should be lying on the bed only. Now I wish that I could turn back time and cuddle them once more. Imagine yourself inside the tummy for nine months being carried everywhere your mom goes then all of a sudden when it is your due and be welcomed to the outside world, suddenly just like that you will be deprived of "that" comfort? Quite unfair right?  Babywearing isn't new to me. In fact, when my first born was three months old, I decided to buy him a carrier (which was narrow based because I wasn't informed of it yet), I saw the benefits of it. My hands were free and I can move around the house do some chores while lulling him to sleep. It was a relief for me since he was quite heavy that time too. It was carried on to my daughter but since she ...

TSM Review: human Heart Nature Diaper Cream

Image
In the span of four months of our journey towards cloth diapering, there were moments where my son experienced diaper rash. But it didn't stop me from this journey because I stand for the benefits it will bring in the long run. You might wonder why will my son have diaper rash when he is exclusively CDing? There are several factors which causes diaper rash when you are exclusively CDing. All the while I thought it was only due to his chunky legs and diaper that was irritated by garter marks. But because of the group and their continuous sharing of thoughts, it was deeper than that. In our case, it was because his diapers is in need of stripping already and more "presko time" for him.  I was initially using petroleum jelly for his diaper rash but of continued use, I noticed that the inner layer is already not that absorbent to pee that it has been leaking already, thats why I resorted to stripping. After stripping some of his diapers, I thought I need to lo...

Journey to breastfeeding, part three

Image
Breastfeeding has always been part of my advocacy. I strongly believe in the benefits of it to both mother and child. So this time, I really wanted to breastfeed my little one exclusively. So I thought. During the hullabaloos of my birthing story, I just thought how would I achieve it if I can't even help myself? One thing more, hospital policy says if you are going to bring the baby inside the room, we can't bring him back inside the nursery but I really wanted to but the excruciating pain didn't let me. So here's what happened, they gave him formula milk! At 4 in the morning my husband went out of the hospital and went looking for formula milk in every drugstore nearby. Too bad it wasn't available and went back empty handed. Two hours after, my mom tried her luck and she resorted to the big can available. The whole time we were in the hospital, he had formula. On the second day, I tried my luck ambulating towards the nursery despite the pain just to ...

TSM Review: Physiogel Cleanser

Image
While waiting for my due, I already made a checklist of the things needed at the hospital for my baby and me. Because this is the third time I will give birth, I have to make sure that I have everything with me and I find it no justice that third time around there will be lapses still. Included in the checklist are also the brands that I need to consider given the fact that I had several bad experiences before of the products the hospital used for my babies. I already stacked up on cloth diapers, soap and all other newborn essentials. This time, I have to make sure that my baby will use gentle baby soap. My two children had very bad allergies because the soap th at was used to bathe them from the hospital caused them redness all over the body. So in their early life, I had to give them medicines already. I gave the nurses at nursery Physiogel cleanser to be used for my baby. I am glad that I made that decision because my son was rash free during his first two ...

Going green: Cloth Pads

Image
Have you ever-imagined life if there are no disposables? Honestly, I don’t and I thought I would never survive it because I was born to a world where disposables were already a thing. Not until.  It was almost a month with everyday day use of disposable napkins after I gave birth that I started itching and feeling very painful on the perineal area. It has never been itchy and this time it was terribly itchy, burning and it was just unbearable. Then my OB told me probably that I wore too much disposable napkins that cause the allergy. She was right. That moment, I finally decided to switch to cloth pads. At first I was quite ambivalent of using it because I just don't like cleaning bloody discharge and sure does takes time. But when I thought of the day that I had the burning sensation, I chose to do the latter than not being able to sleep soundly because of it.  You know what? It really wasn't that hard to make the switch. The feeling was quite different f...
