Babywearing and Its Benefits

"Don't carry them too much because they will get used to it."

When I had my first born, I was led to believe that babies aren't supposed to be cuddled and carried all the time and that they should be lying on the bed only. Now I wish that I could turn back time and cuddle them once more. Imagine yourself inside the tummy for nine months being carried everywhere your mom goes then all of a sudden when it is your due and be welcomed to the outside world, suddenly just like that you will be deprived of "that" comfort? Quite unfair right?

Babywearing isn't new to me. In fact, when my first born was three months old, I decided to buy him a carrier (which was narrow based because I wasn't informed of it yet), I saw the benefits of it. My hands were free and I can move around the house do some chores while lulling him to sleep. It was a relief for me since he was quite heavy that time too. It was carried on to my daughter but since she was small for her age, she enjoyed cuddles in my arms.

But it was only last year that I learned all these things about carriers and the what nots. Again, if I could turn back time, I would've done right for them. But I couldn't so I have to do it best now for my youngest. Despite it being so pricey, I made sure that I saved up so I can buy and use whatever is recommended and safe for him.

You know why I love babywearing? Here are the reasons.

1. Convenient. You can carry your baby everywhere and anywhere without lugging those strollers with you. This is so helpful to moms who doesn't have nannies (like me), we can do chores, take care of my two toddlers and do grocery shopping with ease.

2. Beneficial to mommies. Gained too much weight from pregnancy? Fret not, babywearing your child can be the answer to shed off that excess weight. My arms are slimmer and I lost a little bit of that pregnant weight too.

3. Breastfeeding friendly. When you baby is close to you, you can easily feel the hunger cues that you can breastfeed them at your convenience, anytime and anywhere. No need for you to look for the breastfeeding stations.

4. Raising happy babies. Babywearing mimics the comfort when they were still inside the mother's womb so this makes them feel secured, cry less thus make them happy babies. My son usually giggles and makes cues that he wants to be carried when I do chores that it has become a routine for us already.

I will continue to babywear him so as long as I can. Because they won't be babies forever so I will try to enjoy every single second of it.
