TSM Cooks: Tofu Sisig Recipe

The Lenten season has passed and I was challenged to abstain from eating meat even though we weren't able to have the ash cross from Ash Wednesday. So I had to think of ways on how we are going to have a decent, delicious, healthy meals all at the same time without the meat. I thought why not try other dishes the entire troop hasn't tasted yet. And there was tofu inside the refrigerator and thought of doing Tofu sisig because I was craving for spicy food at the same time.

Tofu Sisig

Ingredients:

Tofu
Garlic, minced
Onion white and purple, minced
Salt
Soy Sauce, Maggi
Pepper
Mayonnaise
Chili (Haba and Labuyo)
Egg
Vegetable oil
Kalamansi

Procedure:

1. Fry the tofu in advance. Set aside. Make sure to let them cool before slicing them into cubes.
2. Prepare all the ingredients.
3. Saute the garlic and onion in vegetable oil until translucent. Add in tofu cubes.
4. Season with soy sauce and pepper. Make sure to add in small amounts so as not to make it really salty. Add in white onion, saute until translucent.
5. Add Chili (haba). If you are not a fan of spicy food, you may skip this one.
6.Add mayonnaise and mix it altogether. If you let it simmer longer, the mayonnaise will become oil. If you want it creamy, after mixing the mayonnaise altogether, beat an egg immediately in the middle and let it cook until you can mix them altogether.
7. Serve. Add chili (red). Again, if you are not a fan of spicy food, you may skip this part.
