Glenmark Philippines Provides First-Aid Know How to Families

Growing up to a family of medical professionals, we do first aids like it is a normal thing for us. I remembered when my aunts managed my dengue fever at home, stitched my brother’s head secondary to a fall, applied plaster cast to my youngest brother’s hairline fracture at home. As a nurse myself, I am very well confident in giving my patients bedside nursing care as well as first aid treatments even in my sleep. But everything is really different when it is your own child. All the things that I learned in school and applied in work is totally blacked out when it comes to my children. I remembered my eldest being hit by an iron on his face and he was bleeding profusely and there I was shaking and confused by merely seeing all the blood.

Most families today, particularly parents, remain clueless on what to do when an unexpected medical situation strikes that can affect their kid or kids. Perhaps due to lack of enough training from their own parents, misinformation, or simply absence of awareness.

To help most parents become equipped with adequate knowledge on first aid for kids, GlenMark  Philippines Inc. holds today a training session for them. The objective is to provide training on what to do and how to react and apply first-aid treatments for various medical issues that may involve their kids.

Focal points of the training session involve the safety of kids when at home, during travels, or even when staying at home in the company of the househelp or with the parents themselves. Foskina, a product of GlenMark Philippines Inc. through its online platform firstaidforkids.ph, will help equip parents or every household with ample familiarity and understanding on how to manage or handle first aid correctly.

This will involve training on how to respond to scenarios such as cuts and wounds, various bites and stings, applying correct Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques for infants and toddlers, burns and scalds, choking, and even fever and febrile convulsions.

For us to be able to be equipped on how to respond and treat our kids, we need to have a first aid kit at home and make sure it is complete all the time. What do we need to include in our first aid kit are the following:
  • sterile gauze
  • plaster
  • elastic bandage
  • antiobiotic cream/ointment like Foskina
  • burn ointment
  • Paracetamol
  • Ibuprofen
  • Anti-histamine
  • scissors
  • thermometer

Firstaidforkids.ph is the online wound care advocacy site of Glenmark Philippines Inc. targeting parents and even househelps. Just recently, Glenmark through firstaidforkids.ph in cooperation with projectmommyger.net conducted a training session called “Yaya Does Montessori” for the “yaya” to train them on how to handle wound care and apply basic first-aid treatment for kids.
