Going Green With Berde
Three years have passed, my youngest is now potty trained and it feels like it was just yesterday when I started using cloth diapers for him. I can't believe that in my own little way, I have been able to reduce waste by 70% throughout the years that he's been in diapers.
I started by reducing plastic waste by using reusable containers to buy fresh produce at the market. I used cloth diapers for my son, I used menstrual cups, cloth pads, eliminate the use of tissues, slowly reduce the use of plastic at home. And last year, I was in the look of Earth-friendly hygiene products and I have been just so surprised to know that most of the products came with a hefty price. I bought a shampoo bar at a foreign store and without batting an eye, I paid for it no matter how expensive it was because I know, it will somehow reduce plastic waste.
I am glad that there are local brands now that sells more Earth-friendly products at an affordable price. Much like the owner of Berde, she was also discouraged on how expensive the Earth-friendly products were being sold online. Her mission is to make these eco-friendly products accessible and affordable because she believes that going green shouldn't be expensive. She wants to get rid of the notion that living a sustainable lifestyle is only for those who can afford. She also wanted to tap those who are skeptical about switching to eco-friendly that they will not regret spending a fortune.
