Every day for the past eighty-eight days, I have been cooking nonstop in the kitchen for the family. Their coping mechanism for being locked at home is composed of three major activities: eat, play, sleep, and repeat. We no longer have the liberty to enjoy dine outs, take out food and food delivery at home in a single snap. So I am left with the redundancy of everyday life in the kitchen, dining table, and/or buying food at the grocery or wet market. Doing the three can be pretty exhausting most especially if your kids are quite demanding with food and are always hungry.
I was more excited than scared when I learned that Metro Manila will be under General Community Quarantine already. It means some of the business operations will already resume. My body is already craving for extra help, especially with cooked food! During the Enhanced Community Quarantine, a lot of businesses were affected most especially the restaurants. They, however, shifted into something more convenient for the consumers which is food delivery and it has already sprouted in the entire metro as the means of people to survive.
Erin’s restaurant started as a small restaurant in Taguig that serves Filipino food whose recipes are passed down from generation to generation. Today, it serves more than 5,000 patrons monthly. It also expanded its operations to a Bed and Breakfast in Tagaytay (Currently under renovation due to the Taal explosion) and a 10 Hectare Mountain Resort in Baras, Rizal. From humble beginnings, our core business of serving freshly cooked, high quality, Filipino food has given us more opportunities to serve more customers. We hope to continue the traditional recipes of our great grandmothers for the gastronomical enjoyment of this present and future generations.
Last weekend, we were privileged enough to be able to try their food delivered to our home and let me share with you our thoughts about it.
Pork Liempo Kare Kare
The sauce is so rich with and the taste is so perfect, not too sweet nor salty. The pork liempo meat and vegetables have a very generous amount of servings and tender soft. Vegetables are perfectly cooked and not too soggy.
Pork Liempo Adobo
The meat is very soft and just the taste we like. The meat was a combination of equal parts of fat and meat that melts in your mouth.
Fried Bangus
The kids loved fried Bangus so much, so when they knew that they had fried Bangus, they were so happy! The bangus was very tasty and I am glad that they are offering deboned milkfish! Yay!
Sinigang Pork Liempo
If there is one dish that we never skip in restaurants is the Sinigang. Anything soup based is always a hit to the kids. So they are so happy that they have Sinigang too. The best thing? The generous amount of leaves and meat! The soup is made with real ingredients and the sourness is just the right taste.
Buttered Shrimp
The kids are so excited to eat shrimps because it has been months since we skipped shrimps. They loved the shrimps and of course the generous amount of soup and garlic.
The menu from Erin’s Restaurant is the perfect get together or once in a while take out meal you can enjoy at home. It has a generous amount and is available at an affordable price. The best thing about it? It is cooked by none other than their Chef Nanay that is why you know very well that it is prepared with so much care and love. Sulit Ulam is Chef Nanay’s answer to the “New Normal”. Instead of Moms going out to buy food or food ingredients, Chef Nanay will just cook the food and deliver it to them delicious and fresh. Chef Nanay knows that not all Moms have cars or can easily commute outside to buy food.
